@Craigp@mastodon.social especially since mastodon is already a privately owned entity (Mastodon gGmbH, with Eugen being the CEO), which gets lots of corporate money and tries to enforce a specific “brand” and goes after others for using the “trademark” Mastodon.

It’s literally already happening, there is a huge push to make mastodon the one main Fediverse app, obscuring away the functionality of the Fediverse and so on

Mastodon already is to the Fediverse what GMail is to E-Mail
